Can you rediscover a building you thought you knew?

The First Government House in Almaty is one of the most significant landmarks of Constructivist architecture in Central Asia. After nearly a century of alterations, the building has changed so profoundly that its architect’s original vision is now difficult to perceive.

Through archival drawings, rare photographs, competition proposals, and architectural reconstructions, the exhibition invites visitors to see the building anew.

More than the story of a single building, the exhibition explores how architecture reflects its time, how cities evolve, and why understanding the past is essential to preserving our built heritage.
