Artist Talk with Almagul Menlibayeva
Artist Almagul Menlibayeva will give an artist talk as part of the public program for the Re-practice school, arranged in collaboration with Visa. The participants of the lab were selected through an open call, and the classes will start tomorrow.
Almagul Menlibayeva is a contemporary artist working with multi-channel video, photography, and installations. She lives and works between Germany and Kazakhstan. Her works were featured at the Sydney, Venice, and Moscow biennales, as well as the international biennales in Gangwon and Sharjah. Menlibayeva’s artistic practice is about critical perspectives on Soviet modernity; the social, economic, and political transformations of post-Soviet Central Asia; and decolonial re-consideration of gender, environmental degradation, and Eurasian cosmologies and indigenous mythologies.
