Family Workshop: The Art of Assemblage

We invite families with children aged 7+ and children aged 10+ to join a workshop on the art of assemblage at Tselinny.
Assemblage is an artistic technique closely related to collage, but unlike collage it works not only with a flat surface, but also with volume and space. While collage is usually composed on a surface from paper, images, and other flat elements, assemblage brings together different objects, materials, and textures to create a spatial composition.
During the workshop, participants will create a three-dimensional composition inside a box and explore how a complete image can emerge from simple materials. At the centre of the session is assemblage as a way of building a work from different elements, combining texture, colour, form, and volume, establishing relationships between objects, and turning them into a small self-contained space. This format encourages close observation, attention to the expressive qualities of materials, and working not only with image, but with the structure of composition itself.
Participants will build their own box assemblage, experimenting with the placement of objects, depth, rhythm, and the relationship between details. This is a practical session focused on imagination, observation, and making by hand, where collage moves beyond the flat surface and becomes a three-dimensional story.
All materials will be provided by Tselinny. The workshop will be led by artist Anna Parkina. For children aged 7 to 10, participation is предусмотрено? Need proper English: participation is possible with a parent/guardian, as participants will be working with glue guns during the session.
The participation fee is 8,000 KZT for one child aged 10+ and 12,000 KZT for one child attending with a parent. The workshop will take place on 4 April at 3:00 pm at Atelier, Tselinny’s educational space.
