Open Lecture by Composer Dmitriy Kurlandskiy
Winner of the Gianni Bergamo Classic Music Award and the Franco Abbiati Prize of the Italian National Association of Music Critics, Dmitriy Kurlandskiy is a guest professor at composition courses such as Impuls in Graz (Austria), Sound of Wander B in Milan, Royaumont (France), Apeldoorn (Netherlands), Tzlil Meudcan (Israel), and at conservatories in Amsterdam, Milan, and San Sebastián. He is a member of the Russian Composers’ Union and artistic director of the International Academy of Young Composers. Since 2013, he has served as music director of the Stanislavsky Electrotheatre.
The topic of his lecture, “Author vs Avatar,” offers a reflection on the nature of creativity, the search for self, and how tradition is both inherited and overcome—through examples from academic and non-academic music alike. Dmitriy is not only a true professional, but also a gifted storyteller with a wealth of life and musical experience. Join our lecture hall for a warm gathering in the form of an open conversation with the audience, and a dialogue about music.
