On April 16, from 3:00 to 5:00 pm, an informal meeting with Balsulu Kondybai will take place.

Serikbol Kondybai was a Kazakhstani researcher, mythologist, and cultural theorist whose work became a foundation for rethinking Kazakh mythology and the symbolic language of traditional culture. Despite his early death, he left behind a significant intellectual legacy in which he sought to restore deep connections between myth, language, and historical memory. An important role in preserving and popularizing his work was played by Zira Nauryzbai, a researcher and writer who systematized, interpreted, and made his texts accessible to a wider audience, continuing to develop his ideas in a contemporary cultural context.

During the meeting, we will discuss how Serikbol Kondybai’s ideas continue to resonate in the practice of contemporary artists today, how they are reinterpreted, reworked, and become part of a contemporary artistic language. The conversation will offer an opportunity not only to learn more about Balsulu’s work, but also to see how mythological heritage continues to live on and transform in the present.

The meeting will take place on April 16, from 3:00 to 5:00 pm, at 59 Masanchi Street, Almaty, Tselinny, Atelier educational space on the second floor of the center. Free admission, no registration required.
