Mediation is a unique approach to exploring an artist's work through practical activities and dialogue. We believe that this is a very useful practice for children, which goes beyond the usual guided tours. Through play, movement, light, and working with different materials, it develops creative thinking, spatial imagination, and the ability to see deep connections between art and the surrounding world. Your children will learn not just to look, but to explore and create, unlocking their own creative potential.

We invite children aged 6 to 10 to a series of classes called “Documentation,” which will take place in December. We will be compiling a Children's Archive — a collection of drawings, photographs, emotions, memories, and little “secrets” that run like a thread through the years and can become a source of support in the future.

Our work is based on the method of exhibition curator Asel Rashidova: selectivity, aesthetic storage, and the creation of a common narrative from what the children create in the process.

The classes in the December cycle were also inspired by the exhibition design created by artist and calligraphy master Lena Shakhmatova.

The program includes four classes:

  1. “The Red Thread” (Saturday, December 6, 15.00 р.m.) — How big are objects and feelings? We will work with the scales of objects and emotions, using a red thread as a symbol of connection.
  2. “Traces” (Saturday, December 13, 11:00 а.m.) — Who am I as someone who collects an archive? We explore our traces and imprints, working with materials such as plaster and clay.
  3. “Map of Events” (Saturday, December 20, 11:00 а.m.) — How does my story unfold? We create a personal map of life, recording and drawing events that are valuable to us.
  4. “The Box” (Saturday, December 27, 11:00 а.m.) — What is stored in the archive? We choose our own archive box, explore its potential contents, and create our own archival object using the collage technique.

Host: Lena Anderson — artist, art therapist, Reggio Emilia educator, architect.
