Creative Coding

17.01.2026 / 24.01.2025
Children and Teens
Tselinny

Two independent workshops where teenagers will be introduced to the basics of programming and learn how to use technology for visual self-expression. We will work with movement, imagery, and imagination, turning code into an artistic tool.
Participants will learn the JavaScript language and the p5.js library, create their first visual sketches and interactive objects, and then integrate machine learning. We will experiment with Google’s Teachable Machine so that the computer can “see” and respond, and embed it into projects.
By the end, participants will produce group or individual works — this could be a visual musical instrument, an interactive game, a performance, or an animation. No prior experience is required — just curiosity and a willingness to experiment.

Location: Atelier, Center for Contemporary Culture Tselinny, Masanchi St. 59, Almaty
Language: Kazakh

Participation in the Creative Laboratory with Freedom Bank program is free of charge — grants are provided with the support of Freedom Bank. To apply, please fill out the form on the Center’s website. When selecting participants, we consider the need for financial support (including teenagers from large or low-income families), the quality of the application, and motivation — how important this course is for the participant and how they plan to use the knowledge and experience gained.

Mentor:
Aibike Sara-Sabit — media artist exploring the intersection of art, technology, and sound. A graduate of Interactive Media Arts at New York University and author of interactive projects, Aibike leads workshops on creative coding, expanding the boundaries of traditional artistic practices.
