Tselinny

We’re excited to welcome another world-class speaker to Tselinny. On October 13, renowned architect Manuel Herz—founder of Manuel Herz Architects and Professor of Architecture and Design at the University of Basel—will deliver a public lecture exploring the relationship between architecture and politics. The event is organized by @urbanforum.kz as part of the “Cities and People: Kazakhstan and Switzerland” program.

Manuel Herz: “What Do Buildings Say?”
“Starting with this question, I’ll delve into how architectural practice intersects with academic research and the sociopolitical forces that shape the spaces we inhabit. The lecture will include a variety of examples—from research-driven projects to built works that examine architecture’s role during political change and conflict. I’ll also share projects from my own practice, including the synagogue in Mainz (Germany) and a hospital in Senegal. Through these case studies, I hope to demonstrate how architecture can serve as a powerful tool for inquiry.”
