Lecture: “Gulfairus Ismailova: Between Canvas and the Stage”

“Gulfairus Ismailova: Between Canvas and the Stage” is a lecture dedicated to one of the most remarkable figures in 20th-century Kazakhstani art. Gulfairus Ismailova’s creative career spanned painting, scenography, cinema, acting, and vocal performance.
During the lecture, we will explore how Ismailova developed her distinctive artistic language, examine her work in theatre and film, and trace the influence of diverse artistic traditions on her paintings. The event offers an opportunity to view her as a multifaceted cultural phenomenon whose work helped shape the visual identity of her era.
Presented as part of Tselinny After Hours and open to all visitors, the lecture will take place on June 27 at 3:00 PM in the Atelier Educational Space on the second floor of the Tselinny at 59 Masanchi Street. Admission is free.
