We invite you to a lecture by Rusudan Mirzikashvili, “World Heritage Nomination – the Start or the End of the Journey?”

The lecture focuses on the World Heritage nomination process and the role it can play in understanding the site itself. Preparing a nomination can become an opportunity to study a place anew, identify its values, and discuss them with the different groups involved in the process.

Rusudan Mirzikashvili will explain how the nomination process works and why achieving World Heritage status can be understood as part of a longer process of preserving and interpreting heritage.

Rusudan Mirzikashvili is a heritage researcher and policy specialist working at the intersection of cultural landscapes, spatial planning, and participatory governance. Her background combines academic research with senior advisory roles and international practice as a World Heritage Advisor for ICOMOS. Before her international engagement, Rusudan served in progressively responsible positions at Georgia’s national heritage administration, working with UNESCO and other international actors. She is also a founding member and current chair of the Docomomo Georgia national section and a founding member of the Urban Reactor collective. Rusudan completed her postgraduate studies at leading European universities, including a PhD from Newcastle University in the UK.

The lecture will take place on August 16 from 12:00 to 1:30 pm at 59 Masanchi Street, Tselinny, Atelier educational space on the second floor of the center. Free admission with registration. The lecture will be held in English.
