We invite you to join the open inclusive practices Body and Space.

This series of sessions explores how the body interacts with external stimuli and conditions, how inner impulses relate to the surrounding environment, and how space shapes movement, attention, and state of being. Each session is a self-contained experience centered on one theme and one mode of exploration.

The practices are held in collaboration with the inclusive theatre Action Literally. Anyone can take part, regardless of prior experience or individual characteristics. If you need assistance, please indicate this in the registration form. Each session lasts 1.5 hours.

Schedule

May 13, Wednesday, 12:00 pm — “Boundaries and Compromises”
Where is the boundary between “want” and “need,” between personal will and what is expected of us? How does this relation appear in the body? In this session, participants will explore where compromise emerges between the desired and the necessary, and how it is felt in space and movement.

May 20, Wednesday, 12:00 pm — “Negation and Affirmation”
How does the body respond to external impulses? How can we notice our own agreement or disagreement with proposed circumstances? This session will focus on how affirmation and refusal are expressed in relation to others, to oneself, and to a situation.

May 27, Wednesday, 12:00 pm — “Rhythm and Arrhythmia”
How does the body build rhythm within itself and around itself? Participants will work with the rhythm of movement, space, sound, and action, exploring how different rhythms intersect, interact, and influence one another.

June 3, Wednesday, 12:00 pm — “Symmetry and Asymmetry”
Is “even” and “correct” always comfortable? How can a habitual pattern or rhythm be broken, and how can new rules be established? This session will focus on how the body creates and disrupts order in space, and how space, in turn, sets its own conditions for the body.

All sessions will take place from 12:00 to 1:30 pm at 59 Masanchi Street, Almaty, Tselinny, ORTA 1 Hall. Registration is available via the link.
