The Future of Others: A Decolonial Perspective on the Future

The first event in the new lecture with screening series focuses on imagining the future through the lens of decolonial discourse, exploring phenomena such as Afrofuturism, Sinofuturism, and Queer Futurism, movements that propose alternative futures while challenging the status quo and the hegemony of Eurocentrism. The lecture features works by Lawrence Lek, Lu Yang, Cao Fei, Tabita Rezaire, and Krёlex zentr. As part of this new program, you’ll be introduced to artists for whom video is a primary medium, see the latest artistic approaches, and explore the history of video art in greater depth.

Anvar Musrepov is a Kazakhstani artist and graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna and the Rodchenko School of Photography and Multimedia in Moscow. He participated in group exhibitions in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Venice, and Lublin. In 2017, his first solo exhibition Wonderstan was held in Almaty.
