A Retrospective of Iconic Video Works from the videoART.uz Festival of the 2000s and Early 2010s
The videoART.uz independent film festival took place in Tashkent from 2007 to 2017 and sparked a surge of diverse experimental practices that evolved with an eye toward the local context and challenging social circumstances. In this program, we have compiled iconic films by festival participants—ranging from analytical and conceptual video works to openly provocative pieces that reflect the realities of their time. The festival’s long-standing curator and driving force was director and artist Oleg Karpov.
